Searching for a Warrant in Windham County
A Windham County warrant search is a chain of checks because Connecticut has no operating county government or sheriff warrant division. Start with the Judicial Branch outstanding-arrest-warrant page. Then use the Criminal/Motor Vehicle case gateway to locate the docket and court. The public warrant page covers violation of probation and some arrest-warrant data, but it currently withholds Failure to Appear entries. Neither tool is the official court record.
Gather a legal name, former surname, birth date, town, court notice, docket or ticket number, and known court date. Do not enter a full birth date, Social Security number, or license number into an unverified form. If the result may be yours, get the clerk or counsel to confirm it before appearing.
- Search the Judicial Branch outstanding-arrest-warrant page by name, town, and court location.
- Check the Criminal and Motor Vehicle case gateway for a matching docket and current case setting.
- For a ticket, use the CIB interface with the complete ticket number, check digit, and three-letter surname prefix.
- Call the Danielson clerk or the police agency mapped to the originating town when the public tools are silent.
- Ask for the warrant category, current status, court, release direction, and how to document any later clearance.
Windham County VOP Search Limits
The public Judicial Branch form is a partial window into Windham County warrant records. Select Arrest Warrants, enter at least two letters of the last name, and combine town or court location with a first-name prefix. Birth year and a plus-or-minus range can separate people who share a common name. The tool does not require a public login or fee.
The warning on the form matters more than a blank result. Failure to Appear warrants will not display until further notice. Safety-sensitive information and youthful-offender matters may also stay off the page, and the interface does not claim to include every warrant type.
The official public search shows the limits beside its fields.

Warrant Search Fields Explained
The Windham County warrant lookup uses a short set of public fields. Town means the town tied to the record, while court location points to the Superior Court location. Danielson is the key court choice for adult Part B criminal, infraction, and motor-vehicle matters from all 15 Windham towns. A broad name search can return a category and location match, so add a first-name prefix and birth-year range before assuming a record belongs to you.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Yes | At least two surname letters |
| First Name | Text | No | Prefix helps narrow common names |
| Birth Year | Year | No | Can use a plus-or-minus range |
| Town | Dropdown | No | Originating town, not court name |
| Court Location | Dropdown | No | Use Danielson for GA 11 matters |
Windham County Case Lookup Check
The case gateway answers a different question. It can help locate a pending criminal or motor-vehicle docket, charges, case status, and next date. A docket number generally encodes the location, case type, year, unique number, and suffix. That information helps the Danielson clerk find the right file, but the lack of warrant text is not proof that no warrant exists.
The Judicial Branch case gateway also warns that online data is not the official record and can change each day.
Use a found docket as the bridge from a broad Windham County warrant search to direct court confirmation.
What a Warrant Search Shows
A public match may connect a person to a warrant category, court location, town, issue or status information, and a related docket. The public interface does not promise a complete warrant document or a bond amount. Treat the court, docket, and category as routing facts. Then ask the Superior Court Clerk at Danielson whether the order is active, served, recalled, or quashed and whether an appearance or release condition applies.
| Docket or Warrant Reference | Use the shown reference, such as DAN-CR, to identify the file; no universal public warrant-number format was documented. |
|---|---|
| Charge or Category | May distinguish VOP, FTA, criminal, motor-vehicle, or infraction context. |
| Issuing Court | Usually Danielson GA 11 for Windham adult Part B matters. |
| Bond or Release | May be absent; confirm the exact order with the clerk. |
| Status | Ask whether it is active, served, recalled, or quashed. |
Windham County Ticket Search Route
A traffic ticket follows its own public path. The Centralized Infractions Bureau form asks for the full ticket number, check digit, and first three letters of the last name or company name exactly as printed. An electronic complaint may take three to five business days to appear, while a handwritten ticket may take five to seven business days. After the answer date, call CIB at 860-263-2750 or use traffictickets@jud.ct.gov.
Use the right tool: CIB can trace a ticket-stage matter, but it does not search felony or general arrest warrants.
Where to Check Warrants in Windham County
There is no Windham County sheriff, county criminal clerk, municipal criminal court, or justice-of-the-peace warrant list. The Danielson GA 11 clerk at 120 School Street keeps adult Part B criminal, motor-vehicle, and infraction files. Call 860-779-8480. Part A felony work is handled at the same address. The Putnam judicial-district clerk handles civil and family administration, while juvenile matters route to the restricted Willimantic juvenile court.
Police confirmation depends on the town and the kind of complaint. Troop D can be reached at 860-779-4900 and serves most Windham County towns. Windham/Willimantic Police uses 860-465-3135, Plainfield Police 860-564-0808, and Putnam Police 860-928-6565. A focused court or police records request is another channel. Describe the docket, person, date range, and exact status or entry sought.
PRAWN Is Not a Public Search
The Paperless Arrest Warrant Network receives court-warrant data from the Criminal Motor Vehicle System and lets authorized agencies locate and process warrants. It connects with COLLECT and CISS. The public cannot sign in. PRAWN also does not include every warrant requested by municipal and state law-enforcement agencies, according to the Judicial Branch statistics glossary.
The official PRAWN description explains its agency role and custodial processing.
This system map explains why local police may hold operational facts that the Windham County public pages do not show.
Restricted Warrants and Access Rules
Connecticut court records are not all open on the same terms. Juvenile delinquency records are confidential under C.G.S. ยง46b-124. Youthful-offender matters, erased records, sealed files, and facts withheld for safety or an active investigation may not appear. The Connecticut Freedom of Information Act reaches Judicial Branch administrative functions, while access to case files is governed chiefly by court rules and specific confidentiality laws.
Key Rules:
Sealed or safety-sensitive material may stay outside the public search.
Juvenile and youthful-offender records carry special Connecticut access limits.
A blank result is not clearance. Confirm current status with the issuing court or agency.
Confirming Windham County Clearance
After a recall, quash, appearance, release, reopened ticket, or payment, keep the order, receipt, and docket number. Ask the clerk when CRMVS, PRAWN, and the public display should update. Check the docket again after that period. Online absence alone does not document that the court withdrew or served the order.
If a ticket nonresponse caused a license suspension, the Superior Court must reopen the case and notify DMV electronically. DMV may also require a $175 restoration fee when reopening occurs on or after suspension. That step concerns license restoration, not proof of warrant clearance. For a broader description of open entries, see the Windham County outstanding warrants page.
